Microenvironment Beneath a Chrysanthemum Leaf

Media Details
Created 11/2/2004
ESEM image, in wet mode, of the underside of a fresh, uncoated Chrysanthemum leaf. Stomates can be seen on the surface of the leaf, and trichomes bearing tiny frond-like structures project from that surface. The frond-like structures may aid in the creation of a microenvironment that protects the stomate openings.
